Background about Mutt &TumbleThere isn’t a one size fits all to train a dog, every dog is different. We work closely with you to discover the source of unwanted behavior and develop a set path to get your dog going in the right direction. It is highly expected that the owners do their weekly homework and give maximum participation.

(We don’t use any tool or method that uses pain or duress to guide a behavior. These methods do work but ONLY with the RIGHT Trainer who is knowledgeable and skilled with these tools, can they be effective. Please seek professional advice before using any tools or methods yourself as they can do more harm than good when used incorrectly)

FAQs

1. How will you train and work with my dog?

We need to do an evaluation first to discover what training method would be resolve the issue.

2. No matter what I do, my dog doesn’t listen to me. If you train him/her how will I get them to listen to me?

It can be common for dogs to mainly get acknowledged when they are doing something naughty, therefore it can then be easy for them to think they are in trouble. Through our training we show how to reward the correct behavior at the right time with and without treats and reprimanding the unwanted behavior through understanding their natural instincts.

3. When my dog is barking and lunging during walks I pet him/her to calm down, why doesn’t he/she calm down?

In a nutshell you are actually rewarding the wrong behavior. You are allowing the behavior to continue versus showing the dog this isn’t okay. Mutt and Tumble shows you why this is happening and how to change this behavior. Understanding how to communicate to your dog in a way they will understand is the key.

4. My dog jumps at people in my home, outside and I can’t get him to stop, what do I do?

Unfortunately this is a very common behavior which is easily overlooked. When you see your dog and admire how cute and awesome they are, it’s easy to get excited and let them get excited and jump on you. Especially when they are puppies. But what you are teaching them is THIS IS HOW WE GREET PEOPLE! So that behavior continues into their adulthood. Jumping up has a time and a place and understanding how to show your dog when it is appropriate is important

5. How long do we need to train for?

The goal is to give you enough tools for your toolbox which you fully understand how to use. I want to transfer the knowledge I know dealing with your specific situation to you.

Your dog’s success depends on your participation and consistency. Lack of consistency, the training will vanish. Your consistency in using the tools you learn will effectively fade out the unwanted behavior. Be prepared to be involved every step of the way. In the beginning a lot of your attention is needed but over time it will get easier and easier.
